On the occasion of the Hungarian Presidency of the European Union, the National Historical Museum in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary 

in Athens organizes the exhibition "Greek Heritage.The Greek Orthodox Diaspora in Hungary, 17th – 19th century". The exhibition continues its cultural journey after the first presentation in the Budapest History Museum on April 2, 2009, under the auspices of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. After Kozani, Thessaloniki and Patras, it is today presented at the National Historical Museum in Athens.

Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the journey of the Greeks from Macedonia, Epirus and the Vlach villages of Metsovo and Moscopole in central Europe. At the same time, it highlights the historical presence of the Greeks in Austria-Hungary with the creation of Greek communities through the establishment of churches and schools, which contributed to the preservation of language, national identity, history and the orthodox religion of their forefathers.

The exhibition includes paintings, lithographs, engravings, manuscripts of the greek-orthodox Community, books, personal items, religious icons, sculptures, newspapers of 1821 and 1826, as well as religious objects, offered by museums and private collections.
