Female festive costume from Pyrgi, Chios island, 19th century. It consists of a white cotton shirt, a vest with embroidered sleeves, a white Pristida (tunic) with vertical pleats in the back, an Yemenι (scarf) embroidered with colorful threads that covers the chest, woolen belt and embroidered shoes. The turban (headdress) consists of a cotton cap and a silk scarf and is decorated with koumpatses (tussock-pins made of beaded tassels).
