Festal costume from Metsovo, Epirus. It consists of a black silk tunic, a black woolen kilt ("foustanela") and the "tsamandani", a black woolen waistcoat decorated with silk braid. A brown cummerbund is wound round the waist. White woolen stockings ("abadokaltses") with black bands tied below the knee ("gonatares") are worn with black leather "tsarouchia". A fur "kalpaki" is worn on the head, 19th-20th century.
